Ticked-Off Trannies with Knives

ONLINE EXCLUSIVE: These Trannies Are Ticked-Off, And They Want To Cut A Bitch

(Ticked-Off Trannies with Knives)

REEL LOVE @ TRIBECA: The severely tonally challenged Ticked-Off Trannies with Knives is a bizarre little bitch of a film that has garnered decidedly undue notoriety thanks to a tiff with GLAAD in which the alliance decried the film as derogatory and “misrepresentative” of transgender women.

Boxers NYC Opening

Benjamin Solomon
Rookies Of The Year - Rob Hynds and Bob Fleut outside their new bar; (inset) a rendering of the inside.

The way gay sports leagues have changed the social landscape in New York is nothing short of a  phenomenon. Sure, you can blame the Internet for killing the mega dance party, but with so many men choosing football cleats over dancing shoes at 10pm, it is clear where many contemporary gay men want to bond. So naturally the gay bar scene has adapted, evidenced first by the popular Gym Sportsbar and now Boxers, a new two-floor 3000-square-foot bar with a back patio, pool tables, darts and even pizza. Owners Bob Fleut, 46 and Rob Hynds, 47, a contractor and a real estate broker who met on a gay softball team 15 years ago, thought opening a bar where gay teams could congregate was just what the community needed. We sat down with the motivated owners to get the lowdown on their exciting new addition to Chelsea.

First thing I noticed it that the space is huge! Tell us about it.
Bob Fleut: 14 feet [high ceilings]
Rob Hynds: It’s tremendous in the city. It gives you an open feeling. We wanted an outside smoking area. Being a sportsbar [owner] I’m a passionate pool player, so we had to get our pool tables in. I mean how many spaces can you get two pool tables in? We also have the brick oven [for pizza].
BF: The plan is for some dartboards and the more lounge-y space downstairs to get groups in if they want to watch a rugby or soccer game.

Tell us more about this [downstairs] space.
RH: We hope to keep that very flexible, a sort of quieter area. You can have a formal sit-down meeting or a private showing...maybe a charity event.
BF: We can give [the gay sports leagues] a meeting room.

So you are offering both a sports “club house” and a nightlife establishment?
RH: Our plan is to be open so that the sports teams [can] have some pizza, have a beer and talk about games.
BF: We want to be a hub for all the gay sports leagues. We’re reaching out and we’re saying, “What do you need? Do you need a place to meet at or to watch a special event? Whatever you need we want to help you.”

We want to know more about this pizza.
RH: We hope to get people to come here after work, have a couple drinks, hang out a bit and have a snack.
BF: We didn’t want to have to serve buffalo wings or French fries like every other place does. So we got a custom wood-burning oven [for] high-quality pizzas.
RH: It’s all about promotions. We intend, when the different leagues come in, to give it to them.

It all sounds fantastic, but isn’t Gym Sportsbar already doing the gay sportsbar thing?
RH: They are actually a big reason we were approved by the community board.
BF: Gym is a great place, but it’s tiny. It was a nice idea for them when they first started but they are not what we’re looking to create. Gym has sports on TV but you can’t hear it. We’ve zoned our sound so you can hear the games if you want.
RH: Plus, they don’t have food.

Hanes? Ali? Dogs? Who is the Boxer?
RH: [It came] out of our passion for guys in boxers.
BF: Check out our bartenders when we open. Everybody will wanna come back!    N

Medical Ethics and the Rights of People with HIV Under Assault

Medical Ethics and the Rights of People With HIV Under Assault

“The approach to prevention and treatment of HIV in the U.S. has undergone a radical and dangerous shift over the past few months.

“The new concept, called ‘Test and Treat’ (TNT) or ‘Testing with Linkage to Care’ (TLC) will dramatically increase HIV testing, identify more people with HIV and ‘link’ them to care. Those are worthy objectives.

“The danger is that some policy leaders driving these ideas are more interested in ‘treatment as prevention,’ meaning getting people with HIV on antiretroviral treatment, than they are in providing the best possible health care for them. Because antiretroviral treatment makes one less likely to transmit HIV, they believe treating all people with HIV is a good prevention strategy.

“Neither the state of the science or government guidelines support antiretroviral treatment for every person with HIV, but advocates, public health officials and pharmaceutical companies are promoting the idea.”

New York Senate Passes HIV/AIDS Affordable Housing Bill

New York Senate Passes HIV/AIDS Affordable Housing Bill
The New York State Senate passed on April 27 a landmark bill that would create affordable housing protection for HIV-positive New Yorkers and their families. The measure would cap “shelter costs” (rent and utilities) to 30 percent of income for people living with HIV/AIDS who receive public assistance.

The bill now heads to Governor David Paterson, who has already promised to sign it into law when it reaches his desk.

At present, thousands of New Yorkers receiving rental assistance through the HIV/AIDS Services Administration pay between 50 to 85 percent of their disability income toward rent each month.

“Paying over two thirds of my disability check towards rent each month means real sacrifices,” said New York City AIDS Housing Network leader Gerald De Younge in a statement. He pays 68 percent of his Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) check toward rent. “Not only do I walk everywhere because I can’t afford subway fare, I walk in shoes that are worn through because I can’t afford to replace them. I haven’t bought new clothes in three years. I can’t afford basic toiletries like toothpaste. I worry about getting to all my doctor’s appointments and dealing with co-pays. And if this bill isn’t signed into law soon, I worry about whether I can keep up with my rent and stay in my home.”

The bill first passed the Senate last July following a powerful speech bySenator Tom Duane (D–Manhattan), the first HIV-positive and the first openly gay member of the New York State Senate. It passed the New York State Assembly earlier this year.

he House on Thursday took up legislation that could set in motion changes in Puerto Rico's 112-year relationship with the United States

Congress debates Puerto Rico referendum

ad
WASHINGTON — The House on Thursday took up legislation that could set in motion changes in Puerto Rico's 112-year relationship with the United States, including a transition to statehood or independence.
The House bill would give the 4 million residents of the island commonwealth a two-step path to expressing how they envision their political future.
Initially, eligible voters, including those born in Puerto Rico but residing in the United States, would vote on whether they wish to keep their current political status or opt for a different direction.
If a majority are in favor of changing the current situation, the Puerto Rican government would be authorized to conduct a second vote and people would choose among three options: statehood, independence and sovereignty in association with the United States. Congress would have to vote on whether Puerto Rico becomes a state.
Pedro Pierluisi, Puerto Rico's non-voting delegate to the House, said that while the island has had votes on similar issues in the past, Congress has never authorized a process where Puerto Ricans state whether they should remain a U.S. territory or seek a nonterritorial status.
"The American way is to allow people to vote, to express themselves and to tell their elected officials how they feel about their political arrangements," said Puerto Rico Gov. Luis Fortuno at a news conference with Pierluisi. "For 112 years, we haven't had the chance ... to fully participate in one way or another in the decisions that affect our daily lives."
Puerto Rico became a U.S. territory at the end of the Spanish-American War. Those born on the island were granted U.S. citizenship in 1917 and Puerto Rico gained commonwealth status in 1952.
Today, Puerto Ricans serve in the military but can't vote in presidential elections. They do not pay income tax on income earned on the island.
In the last referendum, "none of the above" garnered 50 percent of the vote, topping the other options including statehood at 46.5 percent and independence at 2.5 percent.
Opposition to the House bill included Republican concerns that it would set Puerto Rico, where Spanish, as well as English, is the official language, on the road to statehood. Republicans said Puerto Rico would get some six seats in the House, possibly at the expense of other states, and that statehood would impose further burdens on the federal treasury.

Arizona illegal Population dropping 10% a year (Since 2005, then Napolitano enforced the law.

Why are the racist republicans fixing a problem already fixed in arizona? Arizona illegal population has been dropping by 10% a year since Napolitano signs a law enforcing bans on hiring illegals.

can you tell by looking if they are america? SHit it dont matter they are brown and I'm not. fuck it.. signed the GOP.

You notice the right wing freaking about a lot of things.. mainly dealing with race.. They carrry nigger signs and then complain when you call them racist.
Well what the fuck is going on in Arizona? Why do they want to attack american citizens?
WEll what they say sounds great. The Fed refuses to help. We are being taken over. It is costing us too much money.
Hey sounds awesome.. but lets look at the reality the GOP love to ignore.
See the main difference between dems these days and GOPrs.. isnt small gov.. it is the fact the dems believe in evidence based governing and the GOP believe in stoking peoples feelings with total disregard to the evidence.
here is reality.
Arizona Enacts Nation's Strictest Immigration Law..title sound familiar? click the link.. it is from 2007.
Janet Napolitano Signed a Law in 2007 that forced businesses to use everify when hiring. It also gave them two strikes of being busted with illegals before they lose their business license. Of course since it worked and targeted the reason why "illegals" come here.. the GOP were against it.
Well lets see how it worked.
from 560,000 illegals to 460,000.
No other state in the nation experienced such a large percentage decrease in its undocumented population, according to the report.
SO Arizona has the fastest PLUNGING illegal population in the country.
IN ONE YEAR 20%.. or 1 in 5.. illegals went home.
one in fucking 5 and they did not have to violate the rights of any american citizens.
and OF course the corps fought the law.. they say it is unfair to bust them for KNOWINGLY hiring these guys. They say it is unfair to force them to use everify cause the regulatory burdens on them already are tooo time consuming.
SO you have to ask yourself.. THE GOP.. the party of the southern strategy, the Party of enflaming racial divides.. decided to pass an extremely draconain law that actively targets american citizens for being hispanic.. this is the same GOP that freaked when HS noted that their would probably be a rise in right wing hate groups now we have a black liberal president. TEH GOP WERE PISSED they were targeted.. they screamed nazi to the top of their longs.. but now it is someone else.. they dont give a fuck.
SO ASK YOURSELF.. WHY THE HELL DID THE GOP PASS A LAW.. WHEN THEY JUST GOT A NEW LAW AND IT WAS WORKING?
IMO
1. TO INFLAME THE RACIAL DIVIDE DUE TO THEIR BIGOT BASE THEY HAVE DECIDED TO COURT.
2. SO THEY CAN TAKE CREDIT FOR THE ALLL READY PLUNGING ILLEGAL NUMBERS.
REad this again.. in 2007,before the law Napolitano passed (you know the lady the right screams is soft on immigration) arizona had 560,000 undocumentated workers. and a year later.. 100,000 of them left. In one year one out of every 5 people in the state illegally left.
and the GOP complain about a problem never being addressed.
You hear dozens of their parrots going off on how the laws are never enforced and the fed never helps.. THIS IS BECAUSE THEY ARE PARROTS AND DO NOT GIVE A CRAP ABOUT REALITY.. THEY SIMPLY REPEAT THE OUTRAGE THEY ARE TOLD,..
much like obama and his czars despite bush had more.
They think immigration laws are not enforced in arizona.. they think the illegal population is growing instead of falling.. they think it is A ok to harrass american citizens of the same nationality of most illegals.. cause they were told this by the GOP and they have no brain to look up the info on their own.
OMG THEM BROWN FUNNY SPEAKING PEOPLE ARE TAKING OVER EVERYTHING.. BE SCARED.. DONT WORRY THE GOP IS HERE TO FIX ANOTHER NON exitent problem
HECK OF A JOB NAZIS

Fox News Ratings Dive: American IQ Rebounds

The latest quarterly Nielsen ratings reveal a promising trend in cable news viewership. This has been a challenging time for all media and, while cable has been relatively stable, it has not been immune from a general advertising slump and softening audience.
While all three of the major cable news networks suffered primetime declines, MSNBC held its audience best, losing only 6% in the past quarter. By comparison Fox News dropped three times as much (-19%), and CNN collapsed (-40%)

Shocking Law: Doctors Now Allowed to Keep Information About Birth Defects from Women in Order to Stop Abortions

Shocking Law: Doctors Now Allowed to Keep Information About Birth Defects from Women in Order to Stop Abortions

In addition to a law that requires women view ultrasounds before their abortions, Oklahoma now shields doctors who hide information about birth defects from malpractice suits.

Oklahoma is not a hospitable place for a woman seeking to assert her reproductive rights. There are only three licensed abortion providers in the whole state, and local legislators appear fixated on narrowing residents' already-limited abortion options by passing one restrictive, demeaning, and almost certainly unconstitutional law after another.
On Tuesday, the Oklahoma state legislature overrode the governor's vetoes on two such bills and made them law. One requires that a woman seeking an abortion must look at her ultrasound -- the screen must be in her line of sight (she has the option of covering her eyes) -- as the health care provider narrates the state of the fetus. The other law prevents a woman from suing her doctor for withholding information about potential birth defects.
Within hours of the new laws' passage, the Center for Reproductive Rights (CRR)went to court to challenge the bills as unconstitutional. Unfortunately, it's not the first time the abortion rights group has taken on the conservative-dominated Oklahoma legislature. In 2008, when these same statutes were passed and made law -- after legislators once again overturned vetoes by Gov. Brad Henry, a Democrat -- CRR filed suit and successfully had the measures struck down.
The Supreme Court has called the passage of such anti-choice laws "a continued failure to abide by the Oklahoma constitution." The state's own highest court has called such legislative attempts "a waste of time for the Legislature and the Court, and a waste of taxpayers' money."
The Republican-dominated legislature's antics are growing quite tiresome -- and offensive. Just a week ago, an Oklahoma district court ruled unconstitutional a 2009 law that created a public Web site where doctors would have to publish personal information, including names, about women who had legally terminated their pregnancies in the state.
Keri Parks, spokesperson for Planned Parenthood of Central Oklahoma, said this most recent onslaught makes the whole abortion process "more devastating for women who are already making a devastating decision."
Parks believes most of the anti-choice bills being crafted and rammed through the state legislature are part of a concerted effort to win pro-life votes in the upcoming midterm elections. Stephanie Toti, staff attorney for CRR, is sure the motivation is not to protect or promote women's health or to promote informed decision-making by pregnant women.
"The effect of these laws is to manipulate the flow of information about options. It's an attempt to coerce a woman to choose the option that the state thinks is best," Toti says. "These laws threaten women's health by reducing access to safe abortion care. They really humiliate women who are seeking abortion and fail to accord them the dignity that they ought be accorded by law."
The new Oklahoma ultrasound requirement is the most extreme and restrictive of all such anti-choice measures in the country. Currently 21 other states have some sort of ultrasound requirement -- but none of these states requires an abortion provider to place the ultrasound monitor in the patient's line of sight and then make her listen to a description of the fetus. No exceptions are made for rape and incest victims, as the health care provider gives a detailed tour of the fetus' limbs, heart and other organs.
